about

This collection of songs was recorded on a 4 track Tascam Cassette Recorder at an old farmhouse in Snohomish, WA.

"Transcendent thunder-and-lightning visions-and-voice, perfectly harnessed by the grounding guitars and matter-of-fact songs necessary to bring all that electricity back down into a whispering farmhouse, for you. This music will break your heart or put it back together. The beautiful thing is, the choice is yours." ~Jesse Elliott (Ark Life)

".... I try to see how long my strings will last and it's
pretty rare to break one these days. Just as I was about to start the
process of removing old strings and replacing them with new ones after a quick clean, I got an advance copy of Edmund Wayne's "Tape No. One"... I still had my high E and B strings left, waiting to glide through the tight hole at the top when a track came on that froze my hands - it was lucky #2 "Lights On" - this is the jam! This is the track. Listen to it first. Then give the whole album a spin while you're doing something productive with your life...but on that one, I want you to take a break and just listen with your whole body and tell me that ain't a beautiful song. He hits that certain note that only a few singers can find - the one that brings it back home - the reminder of what you liked in their first batch of songs." Matt Hopper

"Tape no. One by Edmund Wayne regards the listener with great compassion and reverence-- as though his songs are incomplete without you. You help rustle the leaves, sway the pines, and litter the streets with painful memories and a brighter tomorrow. It is for this reason the listener --in all their differences in taste and experience-- scarcely come away from Wayne's songs unaffected, if not altogether moved to their core. It is the musing, daydream-like lyricism coupled with a sort of blue-collar accessibility and romanticism that takes it out of the present day and gives it ethereal longevity." Gregory Rawlins
